Back in July and August I was rewatching Star Trek Deep Space Nine on Pluto TV and Paramount+, which included the final two-part episode. In the end, Captain Benjamin Sisko falls into the fires of the Fire Caves on Bajor with the evil Gul Dukat and then is taken to the wormhole with his "mother" and the other "Prophets." He sees his pregnant wife Kassidy one last time to tell her that he's going to stay with the Prophets for a while to let them teach him stuff.

If other people do these things online they might do it all pie-in-the-sky with all sorts of crazy shit or cameos or crossovers or whatever. I try to do mine sort of realistically so it's something that could conceivably happen if anyone actually cared about what I thought. You can see that with my Batgirl movie idea or my Azrael trilogy where I didn't use a lot of other characters to make it more plausible. So in this case I'm not going to do a ton of cameos or crossovers because you really don't know the availability of various actors and in some cases they've died and deepfaking is probably too expensive to be worthwhile. So if you love a certain character and he/she/it isn't mentioned it's not that I hate him/her/it so much as I'm just trying to keep this fairly plausible.
To begin, Sara is working as an archaeologist on Bajor and uncovering some old ruins. She's never known her father but her mom and brother have mentioned that he's supposed to be with the Prophets so she's always hoped that she could uncover something that might let her meet him or even bring him back. And lo and behold, she finds something! Something like part of an image that shows someone who looks an awfully lot like Ben Sisko, maybe with an orb. But there's no orb, just a clue for her to follow.
She probably goes to see her mom and/or brother, who don't want her sacrificing her career on a wild goose chase. Then she meets Dax, whether it's Ezri or a new one would depend. And old/new Dax agrees to help her on her quest to find the orb. I'd prefer a new one so he/she could be younger for a romantic plot. Otherwise we need a third character and I prefer to keep things smaller.
They go to Cardassia, which is probably still rebuilding after the Dominion War, and follow a clue to somewhere else and somewhere else and wind up somewhere else. Ideally it'd be sort of a Da Vinci Code or National Treasure thing where they go to different places like Bajor, Cardassia, Ferenginar, Vulcan, the Breen homeworld, Earth, or wherever and find clues to some big mystery. Like maybe since the Prophets are non-linear they've influenced events on different planets since basically the beginning of time.
The big way to do this would be they go to Geordi's museum from Picard and get the Defiant and recruit a crew and you could have a few new characters mix with some old characters and so on. The smaller way would be to just have Sara and new Dax go around in a small ship to look for the clues.
Along the way there are followers of the pah-wraiths and the late Gul Dukat who try to kill them. And the Federation, Cardassians, Bajorans, or whoever are also probably trying to stop her. Maybe Section 31 could be a part of it.
Somewhere they finally find the orb hidden away and have to deal with some traps and/or guardians like an Indiana Jones movie. Sara finally has the orb and opens it. Her father isn't inside, but someone tells her to take it to the wormhole. Maybe Dax has a bad feeling about it but Sara overrules him/her.
But along the way, their ship is intercepted by a Federation ship. And maybe you could have a cameo from someone from DS9 or TNG or Picard or whatever. They take the orb to give it back to Bajor and warn Sara not to interfere or she could end up in prison. Dax tells her that it's time to quit, but like her father she's not going to let other people push her around and stop her when she's so close.
They go to Deep Space Nine which is still there near the wormhole. Maybe they meet some old characters like Kira or Quark or whoever. And then Sara against all advice steals the orb back and goes to the wormhole to open the orb again. And if you want to set up a cliffhanger for a second season, she could open it and see her father but then he turns out to actually be a pah-wraith. [Ominous music...]
Or if you want a happy ending she opens it and meets her father and he agrees to come back with her. Or if you want a bittersweet ending she opens it and meets her father and he says it's not time for him to come back. Or if you want a different bittersweet ending because you can't get Avery Brooks, you could have her meet some other "Prophets" who tell her that he's not ready to come back.
That's basically the core of my idea. I could probably fill it in with more detail if I want.
And yes I'm aware that in the IDW comics recently they brought Sisko back, but I don't care about that.

That's an interesting plot. Could also throw in Worf as we know that actor is still around. But I'd certainly watch a spinoff of DS9 as I thought it was the best of the Star Trek series. Wise not to throw in too many characters as sadly one or two have died since the series aired.
You know this is really a good idea and I like the National Treasure style plot to have them explore the galaxy. Hopefully Berman visits your blog ;)
