Two-Fer Tuesday #8

It's Tuesday, which means another Two Fer Tuesday.  If you're not acquainted with the rules, I use a random number generator to pick a page and paragraph to pluck two sentences from.  Let's see what we get this week.

Page Number:  51
Paragraph Number: 6

Hmmm, you could say this week's Two-Fer is murder...

Donovan tried not to disturb the scene until the forensics people got here.  She doubted they would find anything, unless the killer was stupid enough not to wear gloves.

Who's dead?  And whodunit?  What a tease...

Tomorrow we celebrate another Everyday Hero...

Has a release day been announced yet? If you keep this up I'll be able to piece together the whole novel.

I wish. But the editor is looking at it a second time. I don't know why since she didn't really do anything the first time except to give me some generic advice and a style sheet. Incidentally it took two months and about five emails to extract that from her.

Then making things more fun is that the person who ran the company sold it to some other people in April so now they're "upgrading" the company website and such.

All of that to say I have no idea when it'll ever come out. I mean if it were up to me it'd be released right now. The manuscript is edited and as you know the cover is done so there seems no point fiddle-diddling around anymore. But that's not up to me. Grump, grump, grump...

You want to time your release day just right. You don't want to be competing with "Dark Knight," do you? Plus then there's Labor Day.

Is the dead person Scarlet Knight's mom? Don't I remember that she's the zombie ghost of Abe Lincoln? I feel like I've nailed this storyline.

It kinda sounds like (from your comment on Rusty's post) that your pub is dicking around with you. At least the editor is trying. I thought I did pretty good (caught some stuff she didn't).

Your extensive knowledge of French restaurants was especially helpful.

How many of the books in your series are under contract?

PT Dilloway said...

I have to look over the contract but I'm hoping just the first one. It's occurred to me I'd get about the same level of service if I just self-pubbed the rest. I mean me, Rusty, and Michael have pretty much done all the work on this one. All the "publisher" seems like they're going to do is collect a chunk of the profits.

Well, yeah... it's really just like what Briane was posting about the other day with Farenheit. Unless they plan to offer you some significant marketing support, you will just be paying them to take some of your money.

Do you know what the penalties are for breaking the contract? Not that I'm suggesting that, because that would be bad, but it's a good thing to know.

Yes, this is quite a tease. Your novel must be filled with drama and tension because you have yet to randomly select a dull passage.
