Box Office Blitz Season 1 Finale Results!

Well it looks like justice prevailed as the despicable Lone Ranger picture got its ass handed to it by Despicable Me 2.  With Turbo, Smurfs 2, and Planes still to come this seems to be the summer of animated kids movies.  I suppose those are pretty reliable for parents wanting to dump their kids somewhere for 2 hours or so.  Probably by 2016 all we'll have are animated kids movies and Marvel superhero movies, at least in mainstream theaters.

Anyway, the final tally just for Friday-Sunday was:

Despicable Me 2 $82.5M
Lone Ranger $29.4M
The Heat $25M

My final picks were:

1. Despicable Me 2 $60M
2. Lone Ranger $50M
3. The Heat $25M 

So hooray, I go out with a trifecta!

But our winner for this final week of Season 1 is Stephen Hayes!
