What kind of trip out west would it be without a stop in Las Vegas? But I don't like gambling, drinking doesn't really agree with me, and I can't afford hookers or drugs so I didn't do most of the stereotypical stuff.
Mostly I walked around Fremont Street and took pictures out of my window at the D casino. I paid a little extra so I would have a room higher up to get a slightly better view, though it didn't have a view of the Strip.
The next day I went to Hoover Dam and the surrounding area. The full tour wasn't available but I was still able to see a lot of it.
Then it was back to Vegas, this time on the Strip. I got lost in Caesar's Palace before I found where I was supposed to pick up my tickets for the Absinthe show. That was a sort of Cirque de Soleil type show that was really fun.
From the roof of the parking garage I got some nice pictures of the Strip at night too, though they'd be better if I had better nighttime camera equipment, not that I wanted to lug a bunch of camera stuff around anyway.
I gambled a whole whopping $1--and lost, of course. That was it for me and Vegas. No Hangover-like adventures.
From there it was on to Phoenix for a week of rest and resupplying.
