Out Of Time by Dave Sinclair
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
Since I got this for free I wasn't expecting a lot but it was a ripping good yarn. Basically it's like a reverse Austin Powers where a British agent from the present is sent back in time to the 1960s, only days after JFK's assassination. To make the transition more difficult, Atticus Wolfe is a black man. 1963 London isn't quite as bad as say Mississippi or South Africa with segregation and apartheid, but there's still a lot of racism.
Atticus gets a break in that he's recruited by 1963's MI6 and given a new identity. Soon he's tasked with finding a mole in the agency. The plot takes some twists and turns as Atticus and a couple of other misfits--a woman and a gay man--try to find the mole while Atticus adjusts to the new time.
It was a lot of fun and definitely makes me want to read the next book.
