Last week I introduced the playoff system. No one really commented on it. I hadn't decided what prizes to give away for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place yet. Then I was thinking that since this involves movies, why not award movies? Only buying one movie for someone would be kind of lame, so why not 10 movies?
To rent, of course. So the first place winner would get 10 free Redbox DVD rentals. And second place gets 5 free Redbox rentals. And third place gets a $5 Amazon gift card because Redbox doesn't have anything lower than 5 rentals. I assume since there are Redbox machines all over that whoever wins will be able to find one near them.
And now it's time for Box Office Blitz Week 15!

Although I do like the Red Box idea.
It's your game you make the rules.
Can I qualify for the playoffs? I think I'm only in the running for the Sacko. At best .Anyway, at least thanks to being sick I'm getting these in on time. Should I bet against Gravity, again? I wanted to say "Carrie" is number one but I'm not sure how well remakes do. Teens go to movies and they'll probably like horror movies. I figure adults will avoid it because it's almost certain to be awful, right? Especially compared to their memories of the first one. I was tempted to go back and watch the first one and see if it was any good -- because most baby boomer movies reputed to be awesome are godawful, if you ask me.
Nevertheless, I'm betting on the teens:
1. Carrie $30 mil
2. Fifth Estate $20 mil
3. Cap'n Phillips: $18 mil.
I had to google some of the other ones. I thought "I'm In Love With A Church Girl" sounded like a Tyler Perry movie and figured I'd put that one in at number two, but when I saw the IMDB page, it said "Stephen Baldwin" was in it, and I figure it's going to be a huuuuuuuge bomb.
The Red Box prize is a great idea Pat! I don't think anything will knock Gravity out.
1.Gravity - $30 mil
2. Carrie - $23 mil
3. Captain Phillips - $18 mil
Didn't make it to the theater this week. Too pretty outside to sit in a dark theater.
Gravity: $29m
Carrie: $21m
Captain Phillips: $16m
I didn't even see this post until now :( Worked late and up early with the kids so they could come see their uncle today. We just saw "Carrie" and it was ok...my wife is the expert on this stuff and she was like "meh".
