Today's Superhero Trivia Challenge Question

1,001 Comic Book Trivia Questions (Revised Edition)
It's the second Wednesday of the month and so today is the superhero trivia question.  I'm taking these from 1001 Comic Book Trivia Questions by Rich Meyer.  I'm not sure how great it is, but it was cheap and available for my Kindle.  Anyway, if you have a problem with the question or answer, it's his fault.

Without further adieu, here's the question:

"What fan-favorite character has the nickname 'the Merc with the Mouth'?"

Answer in the comments.  First one to get it right gets a $5 gift card to Amazon in their email or Facebook.  (Again, I'm not mailing a $5 gift card.  I'm not sure Amazon would even let you do that.)

If you aren't first, never fear!  One respondent will be selected by random number generator to receive a $1 gift card.  Yes, you can give $1 gift cards.  Buy yourself a cheap eBook or MP3 or use it to get a dollar off something else.  The winner for this will be announced tomorrow.  The same person cannot win both gift cards because while that would be more convenient for me it wouldn't really be fair for everyone else.

Also I've decided on what I call the "Andrew Leon Rule" where the same person cannot win the trivia question each month.  So if you win this month you won't be eligible to win the $5 for another 3 months (until August).  But you can still win the $1 participation prize.

Good luck!!!

That would be Deadpool.
That's my oldest son'd favorite character. Much to my dismay.

Oh, man! You have a whole rule just for me! That's kind of awesome!

Now you see why I have the rule. Have to let someone else win every now and then.

I didn't originally think Ryan Reynolds nailed Deadpool, but then, Deadpool in general isn't my cup of tea, and as such I'm no expert on him. But I think in hindsight Reynolds did what he was supposed to in X-Men Origins: Wolverine. Still doesn't make me sad to think the Deadpool spinoff will probably never happen.

If I'd seen the rule before I answered, I would have given someone else a chance.

@Tony: I think Reynolds did a pretty great job. Just the perfect amount of smart ass. It really stunk that they sewed his mouth up, because that took away from him everything that makes Deadpool so popular.

Drat PT, I'm too late! I'll get the next one. Thanks for the contest! 99 cents can get a bunch of stuff.

I'm going to say "Wolverine."

I have no idea who "Deadpool" is, really, beyond that apparently he was played by Ryan Reynolds. So I think you are maybe being generous with "fan favorite," although when you think about it, isn't EVERY person a "fan favorite?" Or are you implying that I could be a fan of THIS GUY, but not like THAT GUY, and yet like a THIRD GUY who might be my favorite?

Let me try this out: I like Green Lantern. So I'm a fan of Green Lantern. But not of Sinestro. Yet I like Guardian from Alpha Flight. So is Guardian a fan favorite of Green Lantern fans?

Man, I have got to get more sleep before I have these days where I drive all over heck and back. Off to my second hearing of the day, separated from the first by 4 1/2 hours and 100 miles.

I think you'd have to ask Rich Meyer about the fan favorite thing. I used the question as he worded it. The only reason I knew about Deadpool other than the X-Men Origins Wolverine movie is from playing "Marvel Ultimate Alliance" on the PS2 where you can get Deadpool and a lot of other nonessential Marvel heroes who probably won't be getting a movie any time soon.

Deadpool is a cult favorite. In the past few years, he's been featured in a bout a zillion comics.

Righty ho, the answer has been exposed. Thus, all I can say is happy blogging and I hope more folks become aware of your site. Take care, Gary

I would have guessed Deadpool. I swear. He was in the straight to DVD cartoon Marvel put out a few years ago... Hulk Vs.... I actually thought he was pretty funny.
