As for last week's winner Evil Dead it toppled all the way to 5th place. Who saw that coming? Not me, obviously.
The final tally is:
- 42 $27M
- Scary Movie 5 $15.2M
- Croods $13.2M
My crappy guesses were:
- Evil Dead $20M
- Croods $18M
- 42 $12M
I get 50 for Croods and 50 for 42 so 100 total.
Briane Pagel guessed:
1. Scary Movie, $30 million
2. The Croods $18 million
3. 42, $10 million.
2. The Croods $18 million
3. 42, $10 million.
That's 50 for each or 150 total.
Michael Offutt guessed:
1) 42 will make 19 million.
2) Scary Movie 5 will make 16.5 million
3) The Croods will make 14 million
2) Scary Movie 5 will make 16.5 million
3) The Croods will make 14 million
That's a trifecta for him! 300 points.
Rusty Carl guessed:
1) Scary Movie 5 - $20 mil
2) 42 - $18 mil
3) Evil Dead - $15 mil
2) 42 - $18 mil
3) Evil Dead - $15 mil
That's 50 for Scary Movie and 50 for 42 or 100 total.
Cindy Borgne guessed:
1. 42 16 mil
2. The croods 13 mil
4. Scary movie 5 9 mil.
2. The croods 13 mil
4. Scary movie 5 9 mil.
That's 100 for 42 and 50 each for the other two or 200 total.
Andrew Leon guessed:
1. Scary Movie 5 $22m
2. 42 -- $18m
3. The Croods -- $14m
2. 42 -- $18m
3. The Croods -- $14m
That's 50 for Scary Movie, 50 for 42 and 100 for Croods for 200 total.
Tony Laplume guessed:
1. 42 ($22 mil)
2. Scary Movie 5 ($18 mil)
3. The Croods ($15 mil)
That's another trifecta! And since Tony is closer than Michael, he gets the 500 point bonus. The rich get richer.
Stephen Hayes guessed:
#1 The Place Behind the Pines $20 mil
#2 Olympus Has Fallen $17 mil
#3 Jurassic Park 3D #12 mil
For 0 points. D'OH!
And Maurice Mitchell guessed:
Evil Dead $40
Croods
42
That's 50 for Croods and 50 for 42 for 100 total.
Thanks to my nagging, people actually answered the bonus question this week. Would Jurassic Park remain in the top 5? Nope. It came in 6th. So close! There were 4 people who answered, so I ran it through Random.org, which picked #1, corresponding to Briane Pagel. The early bird gets the worm! Then I saw I forgot to assign a point value, so I'll just use last week's value of 300 points.

I haven't seen "42" yet but I hope it's worthy of the hype.
Given that my skill got me fewer points than random chance, I guess I'd rather be lucky than good. But I'd rather have superpowers than either of those first two.
I don't get America. I swear, I don't get it it all.
Drat, my comment got cut off. Who knew 42 would be such a powerhouse. I'm changing my strategy for next week.
Part of what helped 42 was that people were talking about it. Sounds stupid, but causing a discussion is always a good thing.
But it still doesn't beat Costner listening to voices in a cornfield!
