Gimme Lights, Camera, and Action: A Hero's Journey: The Movie

A few months ago I employed artist AL Sirois to create a Scarlet Knight promo comic.  It occurred to me last week how I could animate that comic to make it into a little movie to post on YouTube and such.  It's a silent movie of 4 minutes.  If you've read the book, this is where the new Scarlet Knight first wears the armor to rescue the previous Scarlet Knight from the Black Dragoon.

(BTW, this is a compressed version of the video.  The uncompressed version is 4GB and would take probably a day to upload, so the video might look a little fuzzy.  Also, it would look better if full screen than shrunk down on this page.)

And now for something different!

I don't usually get into cover reveals and such, mostly because people don't ask me.  Anyway, I volunteered to help with Laura Diamond's Tsavo Pride release blitz.  So take it away, Laura:

Author Laura Diamond had such a blast sharing her PRIDE series with you that she’s decided to self-publish a spin-off short story. Set in 1890’s Kenya and based on the man-eating lions of Tsavo, this young adult paranormal short has a decidedly horroresque bent to it.

Here’s a teaser trailer on YouTube:

Blurb:

Rogue shapeshifters, Santamo and Legeny, believe they are kings blessed with the power to shift into lions. Using that strength, they brutally defend their land from the British building the Ugandan Railroad that threatens their way of life. On a particularly ruthless raid, Santamo meets his match—Naserian. He spares the girl’s life, a move that fractures his relationship with Legeny and blurs his visions of cleansing his territory of invaders.

While the pile of bones in Santamo and Legeny’s cave grows, so does Santamo’s attraction to Naserian. When she challenges him to give up his murderous ways, will Santamo stay on the path of death he believes is his duty, or will he choose Naserian, and love?

TSAVO PRIDE is NOW AVAILABLE via Amazon for $0.99! Amazon Prime members can borrow it for free. ;)

Haven't gotten a chance to read Hero's Journey yet, but I will. The promo video turned out really good, I like it. And Laura, you had me at "man-eating lions." :D

I love the cartoon. I think it's a great marketing tool as well. Huzzah for Laura! I dropped the ball on helping her out with the release of Tsavo. Ah well.

Oh man, that is a great video! One of the more memorable scenes from the book too.

Congrats to Laura's new upcoming release.

It occurs to me why the motion version works better for me, because the strictly comic one didn't work as a comic. It works in motion because it more clearly evokes your original inspiration, the Adam West Batman, which was itself inspired by the classic movie serials, and that's exactly how the motion version of the Scarlet Knight promo feels. It doesn't hurt that I spent a good portion of time a few months back watching classic movie serials.

The video is impressive. You've got skills. Probably all the gangs in the high school are after you to join. Don't let them talk you into it. You help Pedro get that election.

As for "Tsavo Pride," sounds like a unique concept. I think paranormal/horror, etc. could use more African settings, which I assume this is. The only other one I can think of that touches on Africa was Alan Dean Foster's "Into The Out Of," which was really a good book, because the African monsters seemed all the more scary and unnatural.

Plus, I just love Africa.
