Box Office Blitz Week 3 Scores

Well, ouch I didn't do so good this week.  Neither did 2 of 3 new movies, so I feel their pain.  Here was the top 3 of this weekend:
  1. Hansel & Gretel 19M
  2. Mama 13M
  3. Silver Linings Playbook 10M
My picks were
  1. Hansel & Gretel $20M
  2. Zero Dark 30 $15M
  3. Movie 43 $12M
So I only get 100 points for being right about Hansel and Gretel.

Here were Rusty's picks, which were equally bad:
1: Hansel and Gretel $21M
2: Parker $18M
3:Zero Dark Thirty $15M

He also gets 100 points.

Briane Pagel finally joined the game with:
1. Movie 43, $19,000,000
2. Zero Dark Thirty: $10,000,000
3. Hansel & Gretel, $9,000,000.

He only gets 50 points for Hansel and Gretel, but not the bonus for putting it in the wrong spot.

Also David Powers King joined in with:
1. Hansel and Gretel (17.5 mil)
2. Mama (14 mil)
3. Movie 43 (11 mil)

He gets 200 points for being right about the top 2.

Tony Laplume's picks were much better this week:
1. Hansel & Gretel ($20 mil)
2. Mama ($15 mil)
3. Zero Dark Thirty ($10 mil)

He gets 200 points for the top two and putting them in the right spot.  Plus he gets the 500 point bonus for winning the round.  The final tally for "Hansel and Gretel" was $19M and Tony picked $20M, which was a measly .5M closer than David.  That's what happens when you put dollar amounts in, Tony!

And now we have a tie at the top!  It's me and Tony running neck-and-neck at the moment with 1000 points.

More than a little surprised at how well Silver Lining Playbook's done.  And I guess I underestimated the public's tolerance for shit with how dismally Movie 43 did.

Anyway, as you can see it's still very much anyone's game, though you have to actually PLAY if you want a chance to WIN.

Monday is another Comic Captions...

Bah! I completely forgot to check back on this. I saw your initial post when it went up and you took it back down on Thursday, but I forgot to come back to it on Friday. >sad face<

I did actually see Hansel & Gretel this weekend. Not exactly because I wanted to see it, but we had to pick something to go see and it was the least objectionable choice of movies we hadn't seen.

Not to be cynical - but I am more into blockbuster guessing than 'never heard of it' guessing. At least I got one right.

I should get bonus points for guessing the top movie would gross $19 mil.

I should get bonus points just for including gross estimates. But a good round for me all the same!
