Liberation Front

Mars attacks!  Only in this case the "Martians" invading Earth are humans who colonized the Red Planet centuries ago.  The scattered Earth forces are no match for them and thus soon the whole planet is in Martian hands.

Major Sandra Jordan believes her mission as one of peace, to save the "birth world" from itself.  But when she witnesses a supervisor slaughtering innocent civilians, she begins a perilous journey to reveal the truth.  Joining her are a veteran Earth soldier, a jaded assassin, and a young girl with strange abilities.  This ragtag group becomes the spark for a revolution.

The inspiration for this was the third generation of Robotech, aka Mospaeda, though there are no cool transforming motorcycles.  Besides Robotech, I realized at one point there's kind of a Wizard of Oz thing going on, with four people undertaking the same journey but each with some different need.

It's another of those that could have been a series if I'd gotten around to it.  To this point I haven't and I doubt I will in the future.  I mean it'd be hard to restart a series after five years or so.  That's why books written 20-25 years after the previous one are usually shit.  It's hard to get back into that same groove again.  Anyway, Sandra and her ragtag team probably would have defeated the Martians eventually, or at least fought them to a draw, at which point the Martians would probably decide it was in their best interests to leave.  Or maybe the Martians would have used a "surge" to crush the rebellion for the most part and then withdrawn most of their forces a few years later.  There are a lot of options.

This and the rest of my books are available at the new Planet 99 Publishing site

Great cover, and I like the premise (but then again, I love Robotech too). I will check this one out. But there's still a little sliver of hope of it becoming a series, right?

Cool idea for a book and that cover is amazing Pat. Did you do it yourself?

Yes, I made the cover in PowerPoint with a graphic from Fotolia and using some glow around the text. It's one of a bunch I had to redesign when I decided to republish them under my name. I wrote a blog entry on Indie Writers Monthly about it http://indiewritersmonthly.blogspot.com/2014/02/re-branding.html

Robotech was a motivating factor that led me to writing. :)

You are kicking some ass with the whole A to Z challenge. Woo hoo. I bet your traffic is humming along.

You would lose that bet, but I guess there was some problem with the link on the A to Z site so maybe now that Alex Cavanaugh fixed it more people will find this. (And maybe a few will buy a book.)

Asimov went some decades before going back to the robots and Foundation, and those were great. Maybe you should try it.

Very good idea. I never saw Robotech, and this sounds really unique. I understand your not wanting to continue the series, but maybe there will be a demand.
