The last entry I talked about Wedge Antilles, a Rebel X-Wing pilot. Along with Wedge, Luke, and Poe Dameron the only other X-Wing pilot they've made a figure of in the six-inch size is Asty, who is...I have no idea. I think he was in the sequel movies.
As I've said before it's weird they haven't made Biggs, Luke's friend who was supposed to have a bigger role in the first movie, or the other Death Star attack pilots like Porkins or Gold Leader--"Stay on Target." They haven't even made the Blue Squadron ones from Rogue One. Or Snap Wexley and the other Black Squadron pilots from the sequel trilogy. Or the A-Wing or B-Wing pilots in the second Death Star attack.
It seems like a huge untapped market.

I never paid that close attention but it is odd they aren't doing more of those since many of them are simple head swaps...just sculpt a new head and re-use the body like they did with Luke/Wedge and Poe/Asty. I guess the Rebel/Resistance pilots need to get better PR agents.
I wonder if it's a likeness rights thing...several of the actors from ANH have passed on and they would be dealing with estates and that can be a hassle and maybe they don't think these figures would sell enough to track down and pay for rights. But c'mon, Hasbro, I need a Greg Grunberg X-Wing pilot action figure!!!
You're right, it is odd that they haven't done more of the X-wing pilots. (And good job on X!)

I met a person at one of my brother's get-togethers (he has rich well-to-do friends). Anyway, this guy was the head of marketing at Disney, and I asked him why there was no Baby Yoda merchandise. He said that Disney was completely blindsided by Baby Yoda. They had no idea that the character would be popular. Since then (of course) they have come out with tons. But there was like a six month dearth there where Disney was behind the ball.
Anyway, I'm not here to say that the guy was bad at his job or anything like that. I don't care. But it kinda shows you that Disney as it exists now, doesn't seem to have people in place that understand how to market toys or what could be a good seller. Part of this might be because there aren't really toy stores anymore and to get a thing, you just basically have to order it from Amazon.
I already talked about that back in the Grogu entry but thanks for sharing.
Interesting that these come even for lesser-known characters.
I love letter X posts! Always such variety.
It's hard to believe the alphabet part of the blogging challenge is over for 2021. Down to the after survey, reflections, and the "road trip" sign-up.
Plus, I'm taking part in the Bout of Books read-a-thon in May. So much excitement!
